Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026

This policy explains what personal data is involved when you read I Walk Softly at iwalksoftly.com, and what is not. The short version: very little. The site is built as static pages, carries no advertising, runs no analytics and loads no social media widgets or tracking pixels.

Who is responsible

The site is operated by the small editorial team behind I Walk Softly. For anything related to this policy, write to inbox@iwalksoftly.com.

What is collected, and why

1. Technical logs kept by our hosting provider

When your browser requests a page, the company that hosts the site processes the technical details any web server needs to deliver it: your IP address, the time of the request, the page requested, the browser type and similar connection data. These logs exist so the site can be delivered, protected against abuse and kept running. We do not use them to build profiles, and we do not combine them with other information. The provider keeps them only for a limited period under its own retention rules. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating a secure website.

2. Your cookie banner choice

When you answer the small storage notice that appears on your first visit, your browser saves that answer in its local storage so the notice does not reappear on every page. The value stays on your device and is never sent to us. The cookie policy explains how to remove it.

3. Emails you send

If you write to us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you put in the message. We use this only to read and answer you, and occasionally to correct or improve an article you wrote about. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not pass your message to anyone else. Correspondence is kept for as long as it is useful for that conversation and then deleted, normally within twelve months. The legal basis is your request and our legitimate interest in replying.

Please do not send us medical records, test results or other detailed health information. We cannot advise on them, and we would rather not hold them.

Things this site never does

  • No visitor statistics, heatmaps or session recordings.
  • No advertising networks or retargeting.
  • No selling, renting or trading of personal data.
  • No accounts, logins, comment systems or newsletters that store your details on the site.

Links to other websites

Some articles link to outside sites. Once you follow such a link, that site's own privacy practices apply, and we have no control over them.

Your rights

If you are in the European Union, the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the GDPR and the UK GDPR give you rights over your personal data. You may ask us for access to what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict its use, and request a copy in a portable format. Send any such request to the address above and we will answer within one month. You also have the right to complain to the data protection authority in the country where you live or work, or, in the UK, to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Changes

If the way the site works changes, for example if we ever introduced a feature that stores more data, we will update this page first and change the date at the top. Related reading: website terms and our health information notice.
