Cookie Policy
Plenty of cookie policies run to several screens because the websites behind them load dozens of third-party tools. This one is short for a simple reason: I Walk Softly does not use cookies to follow, measure or advertise to anyone.
The one thing we store
On your first visit a small notice asks whether you are happy with how the site handles storage. Whichever button you press, your browser remembers that answer in its local storage, a little compartment the browser sets aside for each website. That saved answer is the whole list.
- What it contains: a short value recording whether you accepted or declined.
- Why it exists: so the notice does not pop up again on every page you open.
- Where it lives: only on your own device. Nothing about it travels back to our team or to any third party.
- How long it lasts: until you clear it yourself, since local storage has no built-in expiry date.
Strictly speaking this is not a cookie at all, but it serves the same purpose as the functional cookies many sites use, so we explain it here.
Absent by design
There are no analytics cookies counting visits, no advertising cookies, no social sharing buttons that phone home, no embedded video players dropping their own trackers and no fingerprinting scripts. If that ever changed, this page and the privacy policy would be updated before the change went live, and the storage notice would ask for your consent again.
Removing the stored answer
You can wipe the saved choice at any time. The steps differ a little between browsers, but the idea is the same:
- Open your browser's settings and find the section for privacy, cookies or site data.
- Look for the list of stored site data and search for iwalksoftly.com.
- Remove the data for this site, or clear all site data if you prefer.
The next time you visit, the notice will appear again and you can choose afresh. Browsing in a private or incognito window has a similar effect, because that kind of window forgets local storage when it closes.
Links to other sites
Articles occasionally link elsewhere. Those websites may set their own cookies once you arrive there, under their own policies. Nothing is set on their behalf while you are reading I Walk Softly.
